Accessibility and Accomodations

Students for Services with Disabilities

The University of Mississippi is committed to ensuring equal access to a quality education for qualified students with disabilities through the provision of reasonable academic accommodations and program accessibility. University policy provides for reasonable accommodations to be made for students with verified disabilities on an individualized and flexible basis as specified under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA). Inquiries concerning accommodations and accessibility should be directed to the Director of the Office of Student Disability Services and the law school’s Assistant Dean for Student Affairs.

Law students seek verified disability accommodations through the university’s Student Disability Services Office. The accommodations are implemented after a student receives verification and meets with the law school’s Assistant Dean for Student Affairs. If it is believed that a particular approved accommodation will fundamentally alter the essential elements of a program, course or activity, the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs will contact SDS to discuss the ways in which the accommodation causes a fundamental alteration.
