The 2017 Louis Westerfield Judicial Symposium is returning to the Law School this year. This symposium recognizes the contributions of the late Louis Westerfield, the first African-American Dean of the University of Mississippi School of Law. Students will have the opportunity to meet with judges from Mississippi state and federal courts as well as lawyers from around the state. The following issues will be discussed:

  • Surviving Law School (study habits)
  • Gaining experience while in Law School
  • Bar Preparation and how to pay for it
  • Pitfalls on dealing with the bar exam
  • Pitfalls to avoid during your first year of practice
  • Getting your first job
  • Professionalism, especially before Judges

This Symposium is hosted by the Magnolia Bar Association and co-sponsored by BLSA, American Constitution Society and PILF. A reception will follow immediately after the Symposium.
