Who Can Attend?: Anybody
We will be welcoming Rick Davis of Baker Donelson to speak on sports law related topics to commence a new sports law speaker series.
Richard T. “Rick” Davis has represented college and professional football and basketball coaches for more than 25 years. He represents head coaches, coordinators and assistant coaches all over the country, advising on career moves and helping to maximize potential opportunities in the marketplace. He handles all aspects of his clients’ employment and endorsement agreements, working to position each person in the most strategic way possible.
Mr. Davis attended The University of Alabama on a football scholarship where he played under the legendary coach Paul “Bear” Bryant. During his four years at Alabama, the football team won four SEC championships and one national championship.
Following his senior season in 1974, Davis was elected as permanent co-captain by his teammates. Mr. Davis was drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals in 1975 and played four years in the National Football League.
In June 2013, Mr. Davis developed, organized and participated in a panel discussion about the integration of football in Alabama. He brought together several Auburn University and University of Alabama football players from the late 1960s and early 1970s to discuss the desegregation of football programs in the state’s largest universities. The event was well received and was featured in the June 27 issue of Weld Birmingham.
