The University of Mississippi School of Law, FNC, Inc. and the UM Center for Continuing Legal Education are hosting the second annual Mid-South Intellectual Property Institute, Feb. 22-23.
The Institute brings together law school faculty, staff and students, as well as lawyers and entrepreneurs, to explore many top issues in Intellectual Property (IP) with the Mid-South’s IP legal experts. Some topics covered include the America Invents Act, Marilyn Monroe being in the public domain and Apple winning its patent infringement case of its iPhone.
“This conference is a great opportunity for law school students, faculty and those in the legal community to have an intensive discussion of major issues in this increasingly important field,” said Neil Olson, chief legal officer of FNC, Inc., a mortgage technology company based in Oxford, Miss.
“At events like this, people interested in intellectual property law can meet each other and have a community to share their experiences with.”
The conference offers a variety of expert speakers in patents, copyrights and trademarks, as well as music, film and the internet. It conveniently meets in conjunction with the Oxford Film Festival, which runs February 21-24. Paid registration for the IP Institute includes admission to the Oxford Film Festival. CLE credit is offered.
