2020 Calendar of Events

If you are interested in participating in one or more of the events listed, please email a statement to OleMissProBono@gmail.com indicating the event(s) for which you are volunteering, as well as your phone number and whether you are a 1L, 2L, or 3L.  You will be notified by email if slots are available for the event. Closer to the event date, you will receive another email reminding you about the event and providing details on the event, including transportation if applicable.  All events listed below count toward the Pro Bono Credit Hour. TISHOMINGO COUNTY PRO SE CLINIC: IUKA, MS

Thursday, February 11 (12:00 noon – 5 p.m.)

Travel to Iuka to work with pro se litigants at the Tishomingo County Chancery Courthouse. Students are paired with local attorneys to provide legal advice and limited assistance on pro se family law matters.

LAWYERS IN THE PARISH HALL: TUPELO, MS

Thursday, February 13 (7:30 a.m. -10:00 a.m.)

This is a quarterly legal clinic held at the All Saint’s Episcopal Church in Tupelo. Students are paired with local attorneys to provide legal advice and limited assistance to individuals with a variety of legal issues.

WASHINGTON COUNTY PRO SE DAY: GREENVILLE, MS

Wednesday, March 18 (9 a.m. – 1 p.m.)
Travel to the Mississippi Delta (Greenville) to work with pro se litigants at the Washington County Chancery Courthouse. The chancellor hears pro se cases on this day (usually irreconcilable differences divorces) and refers litigants with insufficient pleadings to attorney/student teams to have the pleadings redrafted on site and presented to the court.

18th CHANCERY DISTRICT PRO SE CLINIC: OXFORD, MS

Thursday, April 9 (3 p.m. to 6 p.m.)

Work with pro se litigants at the Chancery Court Building in Oxford. Students are paired with local attorneys to provide legal advice and limited assistance on uncontested pro se family law matters and simple wills.

LAWYERS IN THE PARISH HALL: TUPELO, MS

Thursday, April 16 (7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.)

UNION COUNTY PRO SE CLINIC: NEW ALBANY, MS

Thursday, April 30  (12:00 noon – 5 p.m.)
Travel to New Albany to work with pro se litigants at the Union County Chancery Courthouse. Students are paired with local attorneys to provide legal advice and limited assistance on pro se family law matters.

MONROE COUNTY PRO SE LEGAL CLINIC: ABERDEEN, MS

Monday, May 4 (12:00 noon to 5 p.m. )
Travel to Aberdeen to work with pro se litigants at the Monroe County Chancery Courthouse. Students are paired with local attorneys to provide legal advice and limited assistance on pro se family law matters.

LEE COUNTY PRO SE CLINIC: TUPELO, MS

Tuesday, June 9  (12:00 noon – 5:00 p.m.)
Travel to Tupelo to work with pro se litigants at the Lee County Chancery Courthouse. Students are paired with local attorneys to provide legal advice and limited assistance on pro se family law matters.
