Books and Bears is an annual holiday program to recognize the University’s service employees (custodial and grounds staff). This is an appreciation opportunity for those university employees whose work so often goes unrecognized but whose tireless efforts greatly benefit our comfort and aesthetics.
Our custodial and grounds staff are recognized in a short program on Dec. 20. After a short luncheon, the employers pick from donated children’s gifts which have been collected by our community. Teddy bears and books are some of the more popular gifts, hence the name.
Unwrapped gifts may be dropped off at the following locations:
- 3rd floor Law School
- Graduate School
- 2nd Floor Vardaman Hall
- Lyceum (Provost Office)
- Student Union Ticket Office
- 308 Howry
- 305 Hume Hall
*Note: There is a great need for young adult books and math game books.
