Deepa Iyer served as Executive Director of South Asian Americans Leading Together (SAALT) for nearly a decade. Ms. Iyer has devoted her professional career to advocacy in immigration; civil rights and race relations in a majority-minority nation; hate violence; xenophobia; and Islamophobia in a post 9/11 environment.

In this presentation, Ms. Iyer will discuss the emergence, work, and social, economical, and legal influence of SAALT, a non-profit dedicated to fostering civic and political engagement by South Asian communities in the U.S.
