The competition will field 16 two-person teams, for a total of 32 students from our 2L and 3L classes. Each team will compete in 3 rounds of competition. The teams will be split up with 8 teams representing “client A” and the other 8 teams representing “client B.” The general information about the problem will be released approximately 10 days before the competition and each team will also receive a base contract along with confidential information about their clients position and expectations. Each team will mark up the base contract and submit their work on Monday October 7. The Board will match up the competing teams and each team will receive a copy of the marked contract from their respective competitors. On the day of the competition, each team will compete in 3 different 50-minute rounds of negotiation. Judges registration and check in will begin at 9:30; the competition will begin at 10am. An awards ceremony and reception will follow the competition.
This competition is an excellent opportunity to hone your communication, negotiation, and networking skills. There’s a possibility that two board positions will be available.
