Luckett holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia, and a J.D. degree from the University of Mississippi School of Law. He is currently the president of Luckett Tyner Law Firm in Clarksdale, MS. He serves as senior litigator, specializing in trying lawsuits in federal and state courts, and serves as an expert witness in legal malpractice suits. Luckett has been recognized by Martindale-Hubbell for receiving its highest possible rating in both legal ability and ethical standards for 30 years. He is a frequent lecturer at attorney seminars, and a frequent speaker for civic clubs, tourist groups and universities. He is a member of the Mississippi Bar and the Tennessee Bar and served on the Executive Council of the Association of Defense Trial Attorneys, the Board of Directors of the Mississippi Hospitality & Restaurant Association and holds a lifetime membership with the NAACP. His work also extends to real estate development and restaurant ownership, as he is responsible for the restoration and preservation of many Clarksdale-area properties, and has served on the Mississippi Heritage Trust Board of Trustees. He is currently serving as Mayor of Clarksdale.
