David Sanders

Adjunct Professor and U.S. Magistrate Judge, U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Mississippi

David Sanders has served as a Magistrate Judge in the Northern District of Mississippi since June 2008.  Judge Sanders received his undergraduate degree and a master’s degree in English from the University of Mississippi.  He then graduated magna cum laude from the University of Mississippi School of Law where he served as the Editor-in-Chief of the Mississippi Law Journal.  Immediately following graduation Judge Sanders clerked for United States District Judge David Bramlette in the Southern District of Mississippi.

He subsequently served as a career clerk for Magistrate Judge Allan Alexander in the Northern District of Mississippi before joining the United States Attorney’s Office in Oxford, Mississippi where he worked as a prosecutor until his appointment to the bench.  Judge Sanders is a member of the Federal Magistrate Judges Association Rules Committee and President of the Northern District of Mississippi’s Chapter of the American Inns of Court. He also works as an Editor-at-Large for the Federal Courts Law Review and as an adjunct professor at the University of Mississippi School of Law.
