Mississippi Electronic Courts (MEC) Student Training
February 7, 2018 @ 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm
Join us for valuable Mississippi Electronic Courts (MEC) Training on Wednesday, February 7th from 12:30 to 1:30 pm in the Law Library’s Computer Lab. If you are planning to practice in Mississippi, MEC Training is highly recommended by Mississippi courts. An MEC trainer will lead the session to get you practice-ready.
Each semester, the UM Clinical Programs and the Grisham Law Library offer a training session on the electronic filing of court documents, and the Mississippi Electronic Courts (MEC), a division of the Mississippi Supreme Court, will present this document filing training on Wednesday, February 7, 2018, at 12:30 in the law library computer lab. The hour-long presentation will offer law students instruction on the use of the MEC, which is the default filing platform for all briefs, motions, and other pleadings in both of the state appellate courts and most of the county, circuit, and chancery courts in Mississippi. The MEC filing interface is the same platform the federal courts use, so you get a “two-for-one” training in both jurisdictions by attending this presentation. Filing paper pleadings is no longer an option in most courts today, so plan to attend the session in the Law Library Computer Lab to learn this skill.
