For the tenth year in a row, the Court of Appeals of Mississippi will sit at the School of Law in a special session of court to hear oral arguments from Criminal Appeals Clinic students and in a civil case from north Mississippi.
Court will begin promptly at 1:30, and the audience should be in their seats before the judges take the bench in Moot Court I. Please take note that electronic devices (cell phones, iPads, etc.) are not allowed in the courtroom so leave them in your car, locker or other safe place.
The first case to be argued is an appeal from a divorce case out of Montgomery County Chancery Court, then at 3:00, Criminal Appeals Clinic students Kye Handy and Joseph Jones will argue the appeal from a felony DUI case out of Meridian. As a part of the “Court on the Road” program, after the second argument the judges will engage the audience in a discussion of the inner-workings of the Court of Appeals, clerkship opportunities, and will answer questions about other topics raised by the students.
