The Rule of Law: Uses and Abuses with Stephen Bartulica

February 20 @ 12:45 pm - 2:00 pm

Stephen Bartulica, a member of the European Parliament representing Croatia, will speak on “The Rule of Law: Uses and Abuses” at the University of Mississippi School of Law on Thursday, February 20, at 12:45 PM.

Bartulica was born in the United States and earned a degree in political science at the University of Missouri. After graduating in 1992, he moved with his family to Croatia. He served an associate professor of political philosophy in Zagreb and held positions at the highest level of the Croatian government, including senior foreign policy advisor to Prime Minister Tihomir Orešković. He was elected to the Croatian Parliament in 2020, and he was elected to the European Parliament in 2024.

Bartulica’s extensive experience in both national and European legislative bodies promises to bring a unique and informed perspective on the role of the rule of law in contemporary governance. This is an excellent opportunity for students, faculty, and legal professionals to gain fresh insights into how legal principles are applied—and sometimes misapplied—in the real world.
