Kerry Brian Melear is a Professor of Higher Education, and his areas of expertise include college and university legal, financial, and public policy concerns. He teaches courses in higher education law, finance, human resources, and international higher education.
Dr. Melear was honored to receive the University of Mississippi School of Education’s Researcher of the Year Award in 2007, 2010, and 2013. He was also honored to be named the School of Education’s Outstanding Teacher in 2015.
He has worked as an auditor for a Big Six accounting firm, a research associate with the Florida Postsecondary Education Planning Commission, a higher education policy analyst with the Florida Legislature, and a member of the graduate faculty of two universities.
He is a member of the Author’s Committee of West’s Education Law Reporter, the Book Review Editor for the Journal of Law and Education, and was for seven years the editor of The College Administrator and the Courts, a quarterly publication briefing legal cases of interest to university attorneys, administrators, and legal researchers, in addition to serving a Regional Reporter (state higher education cases) for the School Law Reporter. He is also a member of the Fulbright Specialist Roster.
Dr. Melear is the Education Law Association’s Director of Membership for the State of Mississippi, and is a former member of the Education Law Association Board of Directors, the Advisory Board of the University of Mississippi’s Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning, and the Board of Directors of the Oxford-Lafayette County Literacy Council.
