Professor Posey practiced and was a partner at the law firm of Mitchell, McNutt & Sams, P.A. in Oxford, Mississippi, for 20 years, specializing in the firm’s bankruptcy and creditors rights section, representing clients that included commercial and investment banks and publicly traded companies in general litigation, lien disputes, Chapter 7, Chapter 11, and Chapter 13 bankruptcy cases in the United States District and Bankruptcy Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Mississippi, Western District of Tennessee, District of Delaware, Central District of California, Northern and Southern Districts of Alabama and most Circuit Courts of the State of Mississippi.
Professor Posey served as a Member of the Judge Selection Committee for the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Mississippi in 2020. She was elected President of the Mississippi Bankruptcy Conference in 2019, and was selected as a Member of the Planning Committee and Speaker/Lecturer for the State of Mississippi for the Fifth Circuit Bankruptcy Bench and Bar Conference in 2018, Board Member of the Mississippi Bankruptcy Conference and Chairman of Duberstein Committee from 2014-2020, and Member of the Mississippi Bankruptcy Local Rules Committee from 2015-2018. Professor Posey has frequently published and presented materials for various Continuing Legal Education seminars and case law updates for the National Bankruptcy Institute, Fifth Circuit Bankruptcy Bench and Bar Conference, Mid-South Bankruptcy Conference, Mississippi Bankruptcy Conference, and the Mississippi Bar Annual Meeting.
Professor Posey has previously taught as an adjunct instructor of Legal Research & Writing and Secured Transactions at The University of Mississippi School of Law and is currently an adjunct instructor of Bankruptcy and Secured Transactions.
