Susan O. Winters is a Public Services Law Librarian and Assistant Professor of Practice of Law at the University of Mississippi School of Law. A member of the faculty since 2020, Professor Winters teaches Legal Research and Legal Writing for Judicial Clerk. She writes and speaks on inclusive teaching pedagogy and the use of artificial intelligence in legal research and writing.
Before joining the faculty, Professor Winters practiced in both the public and private sector, although her heart has always been for public service. After graduating from law school, she worked for law practices in Cleveland and Jackson, Mississippi focusing on insurance defense. In 2007, she accepted a position as a Career Judicial Staff Attorney with the First Circuit Court District of Mississippi where she served until returning to her alma mater.
Professor Winters received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Mississippi in 2003, and her juris doctor from the University of Mississippi School of Law in 2003, where she was a member of the Moot Court Board.
