Steps in the Application Process
Step 1 – Register with LSAC’s LL.M. Credential Assembly Service.
All applicants must register with the LL.M. Credential Assembly Service (CAS). Instructions for registering with the LL.M. CAS can be obtained from Law School Admission Services (LSAC) at www.lsac.org. It is very important for applicants to become familiar with the LSAC website so that you can monitor the activity of your application.
Step 2 – Submit application through the LSAC website.
All applications must be made through LSAC. You will need to login or create an account to apply.
LSAC has created an application guide to aid in the application process.
Read the instructions in the application very carefully, as particular sections may be relevant to some applicants and not to others.

Step 3 – Submit personal statement.
The personal statement is important because it allows you to describe why you wish to pursue an LL.M. degree or Graduate Certificate in Air and Space Law at the University of Mississippi School of Law, and how doing so connects with what you have done in the past and what you plan to do in the future. The personal statement enables you to demonstrate how you can contribute your talents and experiences to the Program in Air and Space Law, and it gives you the opportunity to elaborate on any noteworthy academic achievements, extracurricular activities, and business or civic experiences. Successful applicants have also reflected on meaningful personal and intellectual interests, and any challenges and disadvantages met and overcome.
Step 4 – Submit Letters of Recommendation.
A minimum of two academic letters of recommendation (maximum of three) from professors who have taught you in class, or from professors who have direct experience with your academic ability and potential, are strongly preferred. If you have been out of school for a period of time, you may substitute letters from employers or others who are well-acquainted with your intellectual ability and academic ability. We strongly discourage recommendation letters from friends and family, and such letters do not substitute for academic letters of recommendation.
Your letters of recommendation must be submitted through the LSAC Letter of Recommendation Service.
Step 5 – Submit your Curriculum Vitae.
The Curriculum Vitae should provide a synopsis of your academic background, professional experience, research experience, publications, presentations, awards, honors, affiliations, and other relevant details.
Step 6 – Submit a thesis proposal (for LL.M degree applicants only).
This thesis proposal should be specific, well-framed, and original. Vague expressions of interest in a general subject area will be given little weight by the Admissions Committee. This statement should briefly explain the question you propose to research, why the topic is worthy of scholarly investigation, and why your background qualifies you to investigate the topic. Please note that this is merely a proposal, and you will be able to change your thesis topic upon admission into the LL.M. program.
Step 7 – Submit your English Proficiency scores (foreign applicants only).
Foreign applicants whose first language is not English must take one of two tests for English competency: either the TOEFL or the IELTS exam. It is not necessary to take both. Applications will not be considered complete until exam scores are submitted through the LSAC LL.M. Credential Assembly Service (CAS). Photocopies of test reports will not be accepted.
Step 8 – Submit Transcripts
Arrange to have your official academic records sent to LSAC. Transcript Request Forms are available through your LSAC.org account. For LL.M. applicants, law school transcripts must be included. For Graduate Certificate applicants, bachelor degree transcripts must be included and graduate school transcripts (if any) should be included. Once admitted, students will then need to have an official transcript sent directly to University of Mississippi School of Law.
Step 9 – Submit application fee
An application fee of US$50 must be paid in the form of electronic transmission (Visa or MasterCard).
